SLOW FASHION BRANDS • 5 inspiring Instagram accounts

The core business of fast fashion is fast moving and cheap. Nevertheless, or rather because of it, the fast fashion industry is booming and with it the use of genetic engineering, pesticides, other harmful substances and enormous amounts of water. Instagram also reflects our fast and consumption-oriented lifestyle. However, consumption does not necessarily have to be reprehensible. At the latest since the corona crisis, we are all getting the feeling again that consumption is even important for an intact economy. The only question is how consumption is practiced and who is supported by it - or who is harmed by it?

Today we present brands that, like us, have had enough of the indifference towards our environment and animals. Mindfulness and consideration are not a trend but a virtue. That's why we want to be inspired by people who work every day to make the world a little bit better. These labels are not only environmentally friendly, innovative and fair, but also very stylish:

dariadéh - the sustainable label of @dariadariaa

When Madeleine Darya Alizadeh, also known as @dariadaria in 2013 saw a documentary about leather tanneries in Bangladesh, she decided to no longer support fast fashion.

With her label dariadéh, Madeleine instead tries to set an example for fair fashion. She wants to put sustainability into focus.

To this end, she pursues the Giving Back idea and donates 50 cents of every order received to charity.

The dariadéh articles are completely made of organic cotton, recycled cotton and Lyocell (Tencel ™). Even the elastane used is Roica® V550, a yarn that breaks down in the environment without releasing harmful substances.

Corozo nuts are used for the buttons, which are ground by a family-run factory in Portugal. dariadéh also works with natural rubber and has production carried out locally in Austria and Portugal..

Vegan Fashion

Noize makes fashion for people with an awareness of animal suffering associated with fur, leather, wool, down and silk. The focus is on clothing without animal ingredients and cruelty to animals.

„PETA-Approved Vegan“

With the logo "PETA-Approved Vegan" consumers can recognize at a glance products for which no animal had to suffer. This makes the purchase decision for ethically motivated people much easier.

Veja - Vegan Sneakers

The brand VEJA researched for a long time to create an ecological material to replace animal leather. It works with ecological materials like corn production waste, waxed canvas and natural rubber. VEJA thus solves the problem of plastic as an alternative to conventional leather.

Tip: Veja is also available on Breuninger.

Our t-shirts are made out of 100% cotton or a mix of cotton and linen. The embroidery is naturally dyed but the colour will not run or bleed. We want you to enjoy your t-shirt for as long as possible. It is safe to clean in the washing machine, preferably on a delicate setting and the wrong way round. We also advise to iron it on the wrong side to protect the embroidery.
